Introducing Vested Outfitters

Vested Outfitters LLC started right here in the Twin Cities, born out of a personal obsession—and a void in the market that I couldn't ignore. I’ve had many ideas and dreams to create my own business come and go throughout the years. Now that it's becoming reality, I realize it’ll take hard work, attention to detail, and teamwork—excited for the ride. My hope is that you all can be proud customers and have a vested stake in our success.

The Origin: My Vested Story

Several years ago, I became a “beardsman” and wanted to elevate my style to counteract any prejudice against the look. No offense to fellow bearded fellas, but I have often had a perception that we're not as professional or intelligent. The gentlemen’s look intrigued me as more sophisticated and representative of my intent, so I bought my first vest. A well-groomed beard, nice shoes, dressier pants, a stylish button up, topped off with a herringbone textured wool vest, I would elevate my look. Here's me in that original outfit. It still fits.

Since then, the vest has been the anchor of my style. Professionally an identity, utility in my recreation, and the perfect layering tool in an ever-changing temperature range from dawn to dusk. But as much as I loved vests, buying them was always a headache, especially in person.

The Problem: An Empty Rack

It wasn't that I couldn't find good vests out there.  The problem was that you could never find them all in one place. If you walk into a typical brick-and-mortar store, you’re lucky if you find a handful of options tucked away in a corner. A couple of puffers, maybe one fleece, a black tuxedo waistcoat for rent, and that's it. To find anything specific—like a rugged canvas work vest, a refined tweed layer, Donegal wool, or a windproof soft shell—you had to scour the internet, jumping from site to site, and suffer the back and forth.

The Solution: A Destination

I dreamed of building a centralized destination that consolidated every possibility of what a vest can be into one location. A place where you didn't have to settle for whatever they have left, but where you could explore the entire spectrum of the category. From rugged outdoor utility to bespoke tailoring, if it’s a sleeveless layer worth wearing, I wanted it under one roof.

We’ve started Vest Outfitters online to build a foundation with the vision of a retail destination experience in the planning process. I look forward to sharing what we have “in-store” for you.

Vested: Pardon the Puns

When I chose the name "Vested," I did it with a clear, double meaning in mind. It defines everything we do. To be vested is to be outfitted (also in our name) in our signature piece. It’s about finalizing your style with purpose. To be vested is to have a stake in the outcome. We are vested in our customers, employees, community, and vested in doing things with integrity.

Building a legacy company and brand means everything to me, my family, and future owners. I’ve decided to make our company employee owned, so we are all invested and vested in Vested. We have vested interest in you.

Our Golden Rule

We will operate on a simple, unbreakable philosophy: The Golden Rule. We will treat you exactly how we want to be treated as customers. When you buy from us—you are taking zero risk.

If it doesn't fit right, we’ll take it back. If you just don't love the style, we’ll take it back. No return shipping fees. No hassles. We’re building something special here, so your trust is vital to me.

Our Future Together

Vested’s primary aim is to provide a well rounded assortment, in multiple price points, of vests for every purpose; fashion, formal, utility, sporting goods, safety, pets, heating & cooling, etc. We’ll introduce and develop options in various materials for layering under your vest; T-shirts, Henley's, sweaters, pullovers, polos, dress shirts, etc. We will align, affiliate, and offer additional accessories to your outfit; watches, belts, sunglasses, hats, backpacks, bags, ties & pocket squares, etc. Our future retail destination will offer a never-seen-before format to allow for a bespoke experience like no other. PS - It turns out I got started at the age of 4 with my very first vest. My mom made these outfits for family photos. I'm on the left (without a beard) along with my sister and brother.
